Sensex surges 215 points; auto stocks gain

Mumbai, Oct 22 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets on Wednesday was trading 215.28 points or 0.81 percent up as auto stocks gained.

Almost all the sectors were trading in green and the rally was led by auto, capital goods, healthcare and banking sectors.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,782.57 points, was trading at 26,790.93 points (at 09.29 a.m.) in the early session, up 215.28 points or 0.81 percent from the previous day's close at 26,575.65 points.

The Sensex has touched a high of 26,818.33 points and a low of 26,752.84 points in the trade so far.

The S&P auto index gained 223.04 points, capital goods index surged by 173.89 points, healthcare index moved up by 141.66 points and bankex inched up by 131.02 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 53.25 points or 0.67 percent up at 7,981 points.
