12-year-old boy drowns in well, trying to rescue a cat

Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident, a 12-year-old boy drowned in the well while trying to rescue a cat near Ashwathpur Seethram Temple in Moodbidri on December 30. The deceased has been identified as Adarsh Shetty, son of Anil Shetty, a resident of Moodbidri. He was the student of Vani Vilas Aided Higher Primary School and was studying in 7th standard.

Adarsh saw a cat that had fallen in the well and was trying to rescue it. When he was trying to lift the cat out from the well, he slipped and fell into the well.

After sometime when the family members did not find Adarsh at home, they started to search for him. When they found his footwear near the well, they peeped into the well and found Adarsh’s body floating in it.

The body was lifted from the well and sent for post mortem. A case has been registered in the Moodbidri police station.
