Kasargod: In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old girl who was overtaken by fear at the antics of her drunkard father jumped into a well. Harita (14), a ninth standard student, lost her life. Harita was the daughter of Haridas, living near Kolathur government high school.

On Thursday night, Haridas had come home heavily intoxicated. He held a sickle in his hand and created a panicky situation at his home. Feeling threatened by this behaviour, Harita ran out of her home and jumped into the nearby well. The family members shouted for help at which locals came and tried to bring the girl out of well but they failed to find her body as the standing water in the well was very deep.

The police have registered a case of suicide and named Haridas as accused for abetting the suicide.
