Mangaluru: A man committed suicide by hanging at Kodakkal, Padil here on the night of Tuesday December 15, allegedly due to financial crisis. The incident came to light on Wednesday December 16. The deceased has been identified as Chandrahas Shetty (36), a resident of Kodakkal Shivanagar, Padil.
Chandrahas was working as a pigmy collector with Mangala Cooperative Society Bank. Several people owed money to Chandrahas and he in turn had taken loans running into several lacs. Unable to pay back his debts, he took the extreme step.
Chandrahas did not return home even till late night, a search was conducted and his body was found hanging from a rod in a commercial building at Kodakkal. He was the sole breadwinner of the family. His father Thimmappa Shetty passed away a few years ago, and his elder brother is said to have gone missing. He leaves behind two sisters who are married and his mother.
