Bantwal: A lady teacher ended her life. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room at Adyanadka near Vittal. It is said she took this extreme step for a silly reason. The victim of this incident was Ratnavati (48), teacher of Adyanadka school and wife of B Sadashiva Bhat, a resident of Adyanadka Sadaratna in Kepu village.

Ratnavati had gone to bed at around 10 pm duly bolting the room door from inside. On Sunday morning she did not come out of her room. Although she was called out many a time, she neither responded to the calls nor came out.

Finally, the door was broken open at about 10.30 am. It was found that the teacher had ended her life by making a noose out of a veil and hanging from the ceiling fan. Vittal police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Ratnavati's daughter.
