Bantwal: A man died and two children suffered injuries in an accident involving a bus and Omni vehicle at Saradka on Saturday June 4.

The Maruti Omni van being driven by Ganesh Bhat (50) from Palla Kundakatte in Neerchalu was hit by a private bus. Bhat suffered injuries to his head and legs. He succumbed to injuries when being taken to a hospital at Mangaluru. Children, Sudarshan (10), and Kavya (20), were injured. The van was mangled beyond recognition in the accident.

Over-speeding and recklessness on the part of the private bus driver caused the accident. The accident occurred at a dangerous road bend at Saradka identified as an accident zone. This happens to be the same spot where two private buses had collided with each other a few months back.
