80-year-old commits suicide

Sullia: Chomanna Gowda (80), a resident of Elimale in Devachalla village ended his life by turning the gun on himself on Sunday May 1 evening. The reason for him taking the extreme step is said to be paralysis. He was suffering from paralysis and wanted to end his life.

Chomanna was inside the room where areca nut and agricultural implements belonging to the family are stored, on Sunday evening, when his family members heard the sound of firing. They rushed towards the room, opened its doors, and found that Chomanna had turned the barrel of the licenced gun meant for protection of crops from animals towards his stomach, and pulled its trigger with the finger of his leg.

A case about the incident was registered in Subrahmanya police station.
