A J Hospital to mark Blood Donor Day with donation camp from Jun 13 to 20

Mangaluru: On account of World Blood Donor Day, A J Blood Bank, a part of A J Hospital and Research Centre, will organise a voluntary blood donation week from June 13 to 20.

The programme was inaugurated by Shantaram Shetty, chairman of Dakshina Kannada District Red cross society and Vineetha Rai, NSS coordinator of Mangaluru University was the guest of honour. Shantaram Shetty stressed on the need for working towards quality and affordable health care for the downtrodden and economically backward patients.

Three exemplary voluntary blood donors and 10 extraordinary voluntary blood donation camp organizers were felicitated on occasion.

Dr Amitha P Marla, director Medical Administrations, A J Hospital and Research Centre handed over the NABH accreditation certificate to A J Blood Bank.

A J Blood Bank is the sixth blood bank in Karnataka to receive this prestigious accreditation. A CME for blood bank technicians was held on June 10.

Technicians from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu participated in the CME.
