Mangaluru: AIMIT hostels, on Monday, October 16, organised Ethnic Day, a cultural extravaganza to promote and promulgate the richness of their tradition, culture and practice through dance, singing and drama under the theme 'Divided by Culture and United by AIMIT'.

The hearts and minds of every student was elevated with the spirit of oneness and belongingness. The cultural evening which was held in the hostel had a multi-dimensional approach - entertainment to the weary minds and awareness of the various cultures in India.

Chief guest Ramrao, assistant commissioner of police, called on every student to imbibe the spirit of belongingness and work towards making the country a powerful one by harnessing youth power. Director of AIMIT Fr Denzil Lobo, stressed the importance of looking for the good in the exiting evil around and making the nation a harmonious and peace embracing one. He emphasized the importance of knowing the current situation, to be safe from negative influence that divides people, instead of leading them to the path of unity. Curtains were drawn with a heartwarming message 'We are unique individuals yet find our meaning only in reference to the other who is like me yet different'.

Fr Balaraju, director of the hostels along with the wardens, Lestan D’Souza and Teresa Nazareth were the coordinators of the Ethnic Day celebrations.
