Areca nut thieves from Kerala trapped

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district police arrested three persons in connection with a case of theft of areca nut from the house of Thomas, resident of Manjotti House, Nada village in Belthangady taluk between May 13 to 15. The areca nut was valued at Rs 1.50-lakh and a case was registered in Belthangady police station on May 15.

Police on a tip off arrested K Gangadhar, 37 of Panathady village in Kasaragod taluk, K S Shain, 30, Karakutti village in Ernakulam district, and Raghu K B, 27 of Palasheri in Aluva taluk of Ernakulam district. Police are on the lookout for one more Shain, who is absconding. Police recovered 9.60-quintals of areca nut, one Toyota Innova car and one motorcycle in connection with this case.

The value of the property seized in this case is Rs 10 lakh.
