Mangaluru: The district BJP staged a protest outside the DC office on Friday demanding the resignation of minister K J George after the CBI registered an FIR against him in connection to the alleged suicide of DySP M K Ganapathy.

Sathyajit Suratkal, president of BJP backward classes wing said, "CBI has filed FIR against K J George over the suicide of DySP Ganapathy. The BJP has been saying right from the beginning that George was directly involved in the DySP's suicide. DySP Ganapathy in his dying declaration had clearly accused minister K J George of meting out frequent harassment. We demand the immediate sacking of K J George from the cabinet ministry."

Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, "DySP Ganapathy was a sincere officer who served at different locations in Dakshina Kannada. Now it is clear that the DySP did not commit suicide. It was a planned murder. So we demand the resignation of K J George or else we will continue holding statewide protests demanding the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah."
