Bada GP gets six concrete roads under Adani UPCL CSR grant worth Rs 33.60 lac

Udupi: UPCL, in hands with Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, concreted 6 roads in the villages of Bada gram panchayat as a part of CSR initiative and it was made open to public. The roads which were developed by Adani UPCL under the Rural Infrastructure Development programme of CSR at a project cost of Rs 33.60 lac were inaugurated by the company’s joint president Kishore Alva and Bada panchayat’s president Nagaratna Karkera in presence of villagers.

Subhash Road, Polya Barpane Road in ward number 6, Dejadi Road in ward number 4, Vidyaprabhodini School Road in ward number 5, Saraswati Mandira School road and Junior College road in ward number 6 are the roads which were concreted and unveiled to the residents.

Speaking on the occasion Kishore Alva told that Adani UPCL has earmarked a special CSR grant for the various village infrastructure development works in the surrounding 7 gram panchayats wherein Bada gram panchayat has been declared a grant of Rs 1 crore per year for a period of 3 years. He further informed that since the year 2016-17, the development works worth Rs 45 lac were taken-up and executed by Adani UPCL and additionally works worth Rs 10 lac is in progress.

Adani UPCL has already taken up the works of all 7 grama panchayats worth Rs 2.13 crore, as per the works identified by the panchayats in their respective action plans, and those works are in the process of tendering, Alva told. He further informed that the company has already informed the panchayats of Bada, Yellur, Tenka, Mudarangadi, Belapu, Padubidri and Palimar to submit the action plan for the year 2018-19 and UPCL is committed to execute development works worth Rs 22.73 crore totally in the villages of these panchayats over a period of 3 years.

Bada gram panchayat president welcoming the initiation of Adani UPCL expressed that the CSR activities of company is a boon to the local residents.

Shekabba, taluk panchayat member, Indira Shetty, vice-president of Bada gram Panchayat, Kushalini, panchayat development officer, Mohammed Rafiq, Deepak Yermal, Mohini, Vasantha Devadiga, Shakuntala, Abdul Razak, company’s officials Girish Navada and Ravi R Jere were present during the inauguration.
