Bhujanga Shetty of Brahmavar to contest MLC election as an Independent candidate

Udupi : Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and former President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat Bhujanga Shetty announced that he would be contesting the upcoming Legislative Council elections as an Independent candidate when the congress party not give him ticket.

He was speaking with media persons in the Udupi Press Club on Friday, 4th December, 2015 said that he have since 18 years tolerated and heard the criticism in the past. They promised definitely get MLC ticket this year election supposed to be held on December, 2015. Earlier he had confident to get the ticket this year. So that in proper channel he given letter of interest which demanded by the congress party. He has been an active Congress worker for 38 years.

He had received letter from Pratapchandra Shetty that he will not contest MLC election. But they offer ticket for Pratapchandra Shetty without considering other aspirants like Jayaprakash Hegde, Shanker Kunder Kota. There was a decision in the meeting that any aspirant could contest in the elections. But how did congress party declare the name of Pratapchandra Shetty.

It is wrong that the active workers since more than three decades have no scope in the party. The party leadership does not have interest to support young party leaders. So he decided to contest in the MLC election as Individual candidate. Kota Block Congress President Shankar Kundar said that he will support Jayaprakash Hegde and Bhujanga Shetty in the upcoming MLC election if they contested.
