Bishop Dr. Gerald Lobo Inaugurated Star-Shaped St. Francis Assisi Church at Tallur

Kundapur, May 12: “Church is the house of God, church is a prayer house for a human being and church is the way to heaven” – Rev.Dr Gerald Isac Lobo- The Bishop of the Udupi diocese said these words and blessed the devotees after inaugurating the newly built, a rare styled, star-shaped St. Francis Assisi church at Tallur.

 

“The connectivity between God and human being happens in the church, so let we start to pray with a pure heart and God will bless us with a wealthy life.” Along with other parish priests, the Bishop blessed the equipments that are used during the mass and offered the holy mass. Before that, he inaugurated and blessed the newly built Mother Mary Grotto.

Later, Bishop Rev.Jerald Isac Lobo inaugurated the stage function with Vinaya Kumara Sorake-minister for urban development by planting and watering a plant. The reason behind the plantation is, St. Francis Assisi, the saint of this church was always used to plant the trees and his love towards the nature is an inspiration to us.

“Wherever they went, the Catholic priests built schools along with the church and educated the society with their noble service. By offering the prayers in churches like this, not only the devotees, the surrounding people also get the benefit” – Vinaya Kumar Sorake said these words with example and congratulated everyone who worked for the construction of the chuch.

The member of the Vidhana Parishath, Prathap Chandra Shetty conveyed the wishes. Gopal Poojary-the MLA of Byndur inaugurated the church souvenir and wished good-luck and promised the subsidies from Government and MLA’s fund. The Zonal chief Parish Priest Rev. Anil D’souza, Vedamurthy Vidwan Ramachandra Bhat, Ismail Madani Mulla and President of the Grama Panchayath Ananda Billawa wished good luck.

During the occasion, the donor who donated 1 crore for the construction of the church, Mr Richard Mendonca couple and the other donor’s were honored.

Bishop was honored by the Church. The key person behind the construction of the new church Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Sunil Veigas, Arun Mendonca-the vice president of the church, Stany D’silva-the secretary, the architect, engineer and contractor of the churh construction and former parish priests who served in the church - Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rev.Francis Cornelio and Rev. Fr. Alexander Louis were honored by the Bishop.

Cyndrella Gonsalves, Presilla Menezes, Judith Mendonca, Renita Pasanna, sister Thangamma introduced the recipients of honor. Arun Mendonca-the vice president welcomed all, Stany D’silva read the message from the representatives of Pope. Parish Priest Rev.Sunil Vegues proposed the vote of thanks. Sister Ansy Paul-the chief of the Jayarani Convent was present on the dais. Anil D’silva and Neetha Mendonca compered the programme.
