Bishop inaugurates St Mary's Central School

Mangaluru: "Education offers a bright future. It provides success in life. Our educational institutions provide value based education," said bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza.

He spoke at a presidential address after blessing and inagurating the newly built first and second floors and the high school section of St Mary's Central School, Kinnigoli. "We are in a competitive world. We have to understand the rapid changes in the education system and accordingly we have to educate our children." He congratulated the correspondent, managing committe of the institution and the parishioners of Kinnigoli for building such a beautiful school with all the modern aminities.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, member of parliment congratulated the people for starting the CBSE syllabus education. He announced a grant of Rs 10 lac from his fund. Fr Gerald Pinto, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest of Mai De Deus Church, Puttur and founder of this institution, Kasturi Panja, vice-president, zilla Panchayat, Shubhalatha Shetty, member taluk panchayat, Sarojini Gujaran, president, Mennabettu Panchayath and Philomena Sequeira, president, Kinnigoli panchayat were the guests of honour at the function. Fr Alfred Pinto, founder of the school narrated briefly about how he came to know the need for a central syllabus school in Kinnigoli and remembered the people who helped him build and develop the school.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza who completed 20 years as bishop of Mangaluru, 50 years in the vineyard of the Lord and 75 years of his fruitful life was been honoured on the occassion. Vincent D'Souza, vice president of the parish pastoral council read the felicitation note. Fr Vincent Monteiro, parish priest of Kinnigoli church and correspondent of the school welcomed the guest and the gathering. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta proposed the vote of thanks. Anitha D'Souza, Gretta Moras and Samantha compered the programme. The cultural programme was held by the school children.
