Bishop inaugurates new presbytry at St Michael church

Bantwal: Inauguration of the new presbytry and blessing of renovated St Michael's church, Belloor was held on Saturday May 21.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangaluru inaugurated and blessed the new presbytery and renovated the church. During the solemn Eucharistic celebration, the bishop sanctified the altar, consecrated the cross and blessed the walls of the church. After mass, a formal programme was held at the church grounds presided over by the bishop.

Ramanath Rai, minister for forest and environment, in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, Maxim Noronha, vicar Vara Bantwal deanery, parish priest Peter Aranha, Puranadar Hegde, Tashildar Bantwal, taluk, Cyprian Miranda, taluk panchayat, Chandraprakash Shetty, zilla panchayat, Sajipa Munur, Premlatha, president Amunje panchayath, Naveen Bhandari, Amunje panchayat, Pius L Rodrigues, president Badaga, Bellor panchayat, Rajesh Naik, Oddur farms were the guests present on the dias.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanath Rai congratulated the parish priest and people for the great work. Dr Maxim, vicar Vara, appreciated the great achievement of Peter Aranha, his classmate.

In his homily the bishop said, “Church is a place of worship where we experience and meet God in the community." He congratulated the parish priest and faithful on the renovated church and the new presbytery.

After the formal programme, a cultural programme was staged by the youth and children of Belloor.

Godfrey Fernandez, vice president, read the report. Louisa Pinto, PPC secretary delivered the vote of thanks. Vinodh and Jennifer Pinto compered the programme, which concluded with a fellowship meal.
