Udupi (The Hindu): A car caught fire on the overpass on National Highway 66 at Kaup on Monday. However, no one was hurt.

According to the Kaup police, the vehicle was on its way from Mundkur to Kundapur, when the driver of the car, Dinesh Gode, saw smoke emanating from the car and immediately got out of it. Soon, the entire car was in flames.

By the time the fire tenders arrived, most of the car was burnt. However, they doused the flames and prevented any explosion. “Some technical problem in the car must have caused the fire,” said Halmurthy Rao, Kaup Circle Police Inspector.

As a result of the fire accident, traffic on Udupi-Mangaluru National Highway 66 was disrupted for some time. A case has been registered at the Kaup police station.
