Catholic Action League Bendur unit celebrates Soldiers Day

On the occasion of 73rd Indian Independence Day, the members of Catholic Action League Bendur unit celebrated Soldiers Day in St. Sebastian Church Mini Hall at 8:15 am.

Rev. Fr Vincent Monteiro - Parish Priest presided and inaugurated the programme along with Rev. Fr Rohan Dias and Rev. Fr Nelson Peris – Assistant Parish Priest, Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues - Secretary, Bendur Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Sujith Noronha – Animator, Catholic Action League Bendur unit, Leon Loyd Saldanha, Bendur – Diocesan Youth President, ICYM Central Council, Mangalore Diocese, Stephen Veigas – President, Catholic Action League Bendur unit were the dignitaries present for the programme. Carol Lobo – Secretary, Catholic Action League Bendur unit welcomed the gathering. 10 soldiers from Bendur Parish, Mr. Maxim Benedict Monteiro, Mr. Robert Pinto, Mr. G P Mascarenhas, Mr. Henry Pinto, Mr. John Gregory Dalmeida, Mr. Percival J C, Mr. Ozzy Pais, Mr. Daniel Dominic Dsouza, Mr. Clifford Dsouza, and Mr. Norbert Dsouza were honoured during the occasion for their Nobel service and dedication towards our Country.

Neil Nazareth and Nihal Rego – Members, CAL Bendur unit introduced the soldiers to the gathering, followed by cake cutting ceremony by the dignitaries. Patriotic Songs were sung by the CAL Members in honor to the soldiers. Mr. G P Mascarenhas, Mr. Oswald Pais shared their experience and Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues - Secretary, Bendur Parish Pastoral Council being a proud mother of a soldier shared her experience during the occasion. Rev. Fr Rohan Dias appreciated the dedication and service of all the soldiers. He appreciated the efforts put in by the CAL Members to celebrate soldiers day. Preetham Gomes delivered the vote of thanks. Riva Dsouza compered the programme.
