Kundapura, Sep:11: The government has many facilities, aids for the betterment of the minority community like Christians. But, Christians are not aware of this. So, to avail these schemes to the Christian community and to make the maximum use of these aids, Catholic Sabha Udupi has started an institution namely Community Help Line Centre. It was inaugurated by John D’Silva the president of D’Silva Foundation and blessed by Very Rev Fr Baptist Menezes, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Udupi.
Rev. Fr Baptist Menezes said “let our community people take the maximum benefit of this help line center and let this center bring advancement in our community”
John D’Silva couple donated computer and other facilities to this center and they were honored by Catholic Sabha. John D’Silva said “there was a time where our community was ahead in all fields, now they are lagging behind. We should regain that position. We should come ahead in the fields of medical, government sector etc. We should make use of the facilities given by the government”
Ajay Dsouza-the coordinator of minority welfare department gave information about the various facilities and scholarships available to the minority. In case any school refuses to sign the scholarship application, then it should be brought to my notice or to B.O. The convener of Community Health Centre Dr. Jerald Pinto said, “we have started this center to help our community people and everyone should be benefitted from this””. Very Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves-the spiritual director, joint convener of help line center Elroy Kiran Crasto, ex-president William Machado were present on the dais. President Valerian Fernandes welcomed all. Secretary Jacinta Kulaso proposed vote of thanks. Maxim Dsouza presented the programme.
