Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Annual Convention and AGM held at Udupi

Udupi: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh organized Annual Convention and Annual General Body Meeting at St. Mary’s English School campus at Kannarpadi here on Sunday, 12th June, 2016.

The programme began with an invocation. Charles Quadros, President of Udupi Deanery Catholic Sabha welcomed the gathering. Msgr. Dr. Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese inaugurated the convention by lighting the lamp.

During his inaugural address, Msgr Baptist Menezes said that Catholic Sabha is one of the top association in the diocese and he praised the tremendous work rendered by the catholic sabha for the laity people. He highlighted some of the important work of the catholic sabha for the community.

Former President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh, Dr. Thomas Quadros and Entrepreneur of Dubai, Ronald D’Souza explained the Catholic Sabha’s role in various circumstances and is one of the strongest organization of Catholic Laity who gives strong support for the welfare of the community.

Veronica Cornelio, Chairperson of KSDL, Bangalore spoke during the occasion and appreciated catholic sabha for service, sacrifice and unity among the community.

During the occasion, Very Rev Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas, Dean of Udupi Deanery released the directory for the year 2016/17. Meanwhile, Wilson D’Souza Shirva, ZP member, Machael Ramesh D’Souza, Mudarangady and Violet Baretto, Taluk Panchayat members, Melwyn D’Souza Shirva, Renita D’Souza Belle, Grama Panchayat members, Glevan D’Souza Padukone, Royston Vijay Castalino Nakre National level sports achievers, Daina Rodrigues social worker and Dr. Gerald Pinto, Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur were honoured during the occasion. Meanwhile, best deanery and units and those with the highest donation coupons sold were honoured during the occasion.

Louis Almeida, Convener of Late Francis Danthi Literary Award Committee introduced Rev Fr. Richard Menezes who was felicitated with a cash award, citation, shawl and flowers. Precilla Alva presented the general body meeting report for the year 2015/16. Alice Rodrigues placed the present annual report. Alwyn Quadros, Treasurer presented annual statement of accounts details in brief. Henry Menezes, President of Manasa Pamboor presented the report of Manasa and Walter Cyril Pinto presented the report of Sashakth Samudaya Seva Trust.

William Machado, President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh presided the convention. Valerian Fernandes elected President of Udupi Catholic Sabha, Kiran Elroy Crasto past president, Flavy D’Souza, President of Mangalore Pradesh, Walter D’Souza, President elect of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh, Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and others among former officials of the catholic sabha were present on the dais.
