Mangaluru: The inauguration of the newly introduced certificate course in Insurance Management was held in the AV Room of St Aloysius Evening College on Monday February 1 at 5.30 pm. This was part of the ongoing Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college and was open to the general public.

A symbolic inauguration was done by lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries. The chief guest, Dr Sharanappa S D IPS, superintendent of police, from the city who addressed the gathering, spoke about the necessity for planning one’s life and working hard to implement it. He also expressed his happiness at the good work done by the college and congratulated the Evening College on its novel initiative in organising need-based courses.

The administrator of St Aloysius Evening College and the president of the function, Fr Michael John SJ, thanked the college for organising excellent courses which benefitted not just the students but also the society at large. The principal Dr Manohar V Serrao and Dr Donald Lobo, co-ordinator of diploma and certificate courses were present on the occasion. Dr Charles V Furtado compered the programme. Many distinguished resource persons drawn from various fields of expertise were part of the faculty. More than 60 participants enrolled for the Certificate Course. The course will continue for 5 days between 5.30 and 7.30 pm.
