College Day Celebrations held at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: St Philomena College Puttur organized 58th College Day celebrations on April 13, 2016 in college quadrangle.

Prof. Sripathi Kalluraya P, Professor, Department of Economics, Mangalore University was the chief guest. He said, ‘Education makes human beings more productive. Earlier, acquiring knowledge and attaining social status was the main objective of education. Today, knowledge has taken economic framework. Education which is suitable to get employment opportunity is given preference.’

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal presented the annual report of the college. Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal, St Philomena P U College participated as the guest of honour. Very Rev. Fr Alfred J pinto, Correspondent presided over the celebrations.

The Campus Director Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, President of PTA Mr. Ganesh Rao and the President of Old Students Association Mr. Jayakumar Rai graced the occasion.

On this special occasion, faculty members who have obtained PhD, students who have secured ranks at the University level and the outstanding sports persons were felicitated.

The students of PG studies presented the prayer song. The Vice Principal Prof. Vishnu Bhat welcomed the gathering. Prof. Malini K, Associate Professor in Chemistry proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Melita Anusha Monteiro, Assistant Professor in Commerce compered the programme.

Puttur: St Philomena College Puttur organized 59th College Day celebrations on March 3, 2017 in college quadrangle.

Mr. Nalinkumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, D.K. Constituency was the chief guest. He said, ‘We need educational institutions which play a strong and constructive role in infusing human values among the students.’

Rev. Sr Cicilia Mendonca, Provincial Superior, Bethany Provincialate, Mangalore participated as the guest of honour. She said, ‘Life is not concerned with scoring high marks in the examinations. But it is concerned with developing integrity and values.’

On this special occasion, Prof. Vishnu Bhat, Vice Principal, Prof. D. Ishwara Shastry, HOD of Sanskrit and Mr. Cyril Moras, Lab Assistant, Department of Physics were felicitated on attaining superannuation. Ms. Durgarchana M, III Rank winner in B.Com, Ms. Varsha Moleyar, II Rank winner in M.Sc.(Physics) and Ms. Smitha K, II Rank winner in M.Sc.(Mathematics) were honoured. SCUO. Branden Antony Roche and JUO. Rachana N R were honoured for participating in the Republic Day Parade–2017. Mr. Vaishnav Hegde, International Swimmer and other outstanding sports persons were also honoured.

The members of Performing Arts Association presented the prayer song. The Vice Principal Prof. Vishnu Bhat welcomed the gathering. Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Secretary of Staff Association proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Varija, Department of Computer Science compered the programme.

Puttur: St Philomena College Puttur organized 62nd College Day celebrations on March 3, 2020 in college quadrangle.

The Managing Director of Advanced Technical Services Co. W.L.L. and Associated Technical Services Co. W.L.L., Qatar Mr M. Ravi Shetty participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘Education is the powerful process of igniting the young minds of the students. It can also make the nation prosperous and powerful. We need moral based education and not wealth based education. Teachers always play a prime role as moral mentors in educational institutions.’

The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presented the annual report of the college. The Campus Director and Chairman of PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, President of PTA Mr Ammanna Rai and the President of Alumni Association Mr A. Jagajeevandas Rai graced the occasion.

On this special occasion, Prof. Ganapathy S, HoD of Eonomics, Prof. Maxim Carl, HoD of Commerce, Dr Prasanna Rai K, HoD of Botany and Mr Joachim Menezes, Office Staff were felicitated on attaining superannuation.

Lt Johnson David Sequeira, Associate NCC Officer was felicitated for being the Contingent Officer of Karnataka and Goa Directorate to train the cadets in New Delhi.

Ms Madhura P K, eighth rank in BSc, Ms Christel Livia Mascarenhas, ninth rank in BSc, Ms Roshni M Y, third rank in BBA, Ms Shabana, fourth rank in BBA, Ms Shivani, seventh rank in BCA, Ms Thashreefa Jahan, eighth rank in BA, Ms Navya Bhat, First rank in MCom, Ms Aparna G, 10th rank in MCom, Ms Chaithra B J, First rank in MSc (Mathematics) were honoured.

SUO Chethan P of first year BCA and JUO Mahalasa Pai G of first year BCom were felicitated for participating in Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Secretary of Staff Association proposed the vote of thanks.
