Mangaluru: Small Christian Community day at the parish level was celebrated at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia Mangalore on 3rd December 2017 Sunday.

Eucharistic Celebration was held at 4pm. V. Rev. Fr J.B. Crasta, Vicar Forane of the Episcopal City Deanery and the Rector of the Rosario Cathedral Church was the main celebrant. Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto, the Asst. P.P. of Valencia Church preached the homily. The cultural programme was held at the church grounds.

Rev. Fr. James D’Souza was the President of the Programme. He said, “Community Day celebrations like this bring us together as one family.” Chief Guest for the programme were Mangalore South Assembly MLA Mr.J.R Lobo and Chief Whip of Karnataka government MLC Mr.Ivan D’Souza. Mr. J.R. Lobo said that there is a greater responsibility on us to make our community strong. We need to get into govt. jobs so that peace, justice and truth may prevail and that we become the model for others. Mr Ivan D’Souza opined that our participation in the public sector is very less. We need to pay more attention to it and make our community vibrant.

The programme started with a welcome dance by Anusha D’Souza and Amulya D’Souza. Mr.Anil Lobo Vice-president of Parish Pastoral Council welcomed the gathering. Winners of various competitions were awarded on the occasion.

Sr.Doreen , Mr.Godwin D’Souza, Mr.Cyril Sequeira (CGS Taccode) , Ms.Neena Rodrigues , Sr.Olinda Pereira , Mr.Dolphy Saldanha, MLC Mr.Ivan D’Souza were felicitated for their achievements in various fields during the occasion.

Parish Council secretary Mrs.Lizzie pinto proposed the vote of thanks.

Lourdes ward,Carmel Ward and Infant Mary Ward performed on the theme Community in a Church. Team MeMoRi enthralled the crowd with their splendid jokes.

MLA Mr.JR Lobo , MLC Mr.Ivan D’Souza, Parish priest Rev Fr James D’Souza , Asst PP Fr.Naveen Pinto , Resident priest Fr.Arun Lobo , Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Mr.Anil Lobo , Secretary Mrs. Lizzie pinto , Episcopal City Varado SCC Convener Mr.Robert D’Souza Bendur , Valencia unit SCC Convener Mrs. Jacintha Carmine were present during the occasion. Mrs.Jacintha Sequeira and Ms.Sweeny D’Souza compered the programme.

Dinner was served to all the people who were present. Food was specially prepared by the parishioners for the event.
The programme ended with a Baila with Dj Valen playing some Konkani and Hindi music.

Around 1500 parishioners witnessed the special programme.
