Court acquits accused for assaulting woman police sub-inspector

Mangaluru: Court acquitted a man who was accused of assaulting woman police sub-inspector (PSI) Bharathi and other police personnel. Abdusalam alias Pataudi Salam from Jokatte is the person acquitted.

Abdusalam was an accused in a murder case that took place in Moodbidri. ASI Bharathi had gone to Jokatte to arrest Abdusalam in 2014 relating to the case. At that time Abdusalam allegedly attempted to assault Bharathi and other police personnel accompanying her. He also stopped them from discharging their duties.

The case was heard by 3rd additional district and sessions court in city. The court in its judgment said that the prosecution failed to prove the allegations against the accused and pronounced him not guilty.
