Cross Procession by ICYM Kundapur

Kundapur, December 8: This year’s National level conference of ICYM will be held at Mangalore. The representatives of Indian Catholic Youth Movement from all over India will participate in this conference.

 

In 1995 at the conference held at Kerala, this cross was given as a symbol for the conference by the federation of Catholic Bishops. The cross indicates love of Jesus Christ towards humankind. This Cross was carved by an artist from Vasai. The uniqueness of this cross is the body of Jesus hanging on the cross and the cross is carved using a single piece of wood. It is four feet long.

The cross procession is the preliminary event of this conference and it is held in different states every year. This year the youth conference will be held with a slogan “To walk in the way of Christ with his divine touch”. The cross procession started at Bengaluru on April 3rd and has reached Kundapur on Tuesday travelling through Mandya, Mysore, Chikmagalur, Bellary, Gulbarga, Belagavi, Karwar, Shimoga, Bhadravathi, Puthuru, Belthangady, Udupi covering a distance of 1800 Kilometers.

Kundapura Zonal director of ICYM and Parish priest of Gangolli Church Rev.Fr. Albert Crasta brought the Cross at the stadium of St. Mary’s Institution along with members and Rev. Fr. Anil D’souza, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church received the Cross. Later, The cross was brought to Kundapur Church in a procession.

Parish Priest Rev. Fr.Gerald Sandeep D’mello, Rev.Fr. Pravin Amrith Martis, Rev. Fr. Vishal Lobo, sisters, presidents of all ICYM unit, secretaries, members and devotees participated in the prayer.
