Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has directed authorities to remove all unauthorised banners in the district well before the announcement of the date of the elections. He said that no banner pertaining to any programme or festival can be put up without the permission of the authorities.
If rules are violated such banners should be removed without notice and action should follow against the concerned, he directed officials.
He said EVMs would be used for elections this time along with VVPAT so that no doubt arises. He also warned that stern action would follow against officials who use mobile phones while on election duty. M R Ravi, ZP CEO said measures have been taken to sensitise young voters on the importance of voting by appointing campus ambassadors and forming booth level vigilance groups.
