Udupi: Dalit Hitharakshana Samithi of Hiriyadka, under the leadership of its convener Dejappa Karkera protested to demand arrest of Hiriyadka Police Station PSI M. Rafiq over the alleged assault of Kiran and Sundershan of Dalit community.

Dalit communities of Hiriyadka protested at Udupi near the service bus station and demanding immediate arrest of PSI M. Rafiq and suspension of Annamalai District Police Superintendent. Dejappa Karkera alleged that PSI Rafiq has assaulted Kiran from Dalit community for without any reasons in Sadananda Shetty’s house. After that, Kiran was admitted to the district government hospital for treatment for the injuries done by PSI M. Rafiq during his assault on Kiran.

Dejappa had complained to SP in the case of assault on Kiran, but could not take the action on PSI Rafiq. Meanwhile, PSI M. Rafiq also assaulted Sudarshan for not wearing the helmet. Several complaints were made against PSI Rafiq in Hiriyadka Police station for his various acts. But there was no action taken on PSI Rafiq.

Dejappa said that we herewith demand the arrest of PSI Rafiq and suspension of SP Annamalai within 10 days; we will go to arrange a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence at Bangalore.

During the protest, Shankar Madibettu, Ramesh, Babu Hiriyadka, Ithu Kanajaru, Babu Kanajaru, Babitha, Rekha, Mallika, Shankar and others were present.
