Devotees of St Lawrence to join padayatre on Jan 26

Udupi: The eleventh annual 'padayatre' to the Shrine of St Lawrence at Attur, Karkala is scheduled to take place from the Shrine of St Lawrence Moodubelle on Tuesday January 26 at 4.00 pm. Over 500 devotees of St Lawrence from Pamboor, Padubelle Kuntalnagar, Shirva, Katpadi and Moodubelle are expected to participate in the Padayatre including women, children along with Hindu, Muslim brothers and sisters.

It was 10 years back that the pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Lawrence at Attur was initiated under the leadership of the former Zilla Panchayat president Gerald Fernandes with 35 devotees. Since then Gerald has been leading the Padayatre every year on the eve of the annual fest of St Lawrence at Attur.

Refreshments, light dinner, bus transport for the return journey from Attur and other necessary arrangements have already been made to all the pilgrims.
