District Level Science Fair held at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the College, Science Forum of St Philomena College Puttur, in association with Karnataka Science and Technology Academy and Department of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka organized District Level Science Fair on January 12, 2018 in college auditorium.

 

The MLA of Puttur constituency and Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka Mrs. Shakunthala T Shetty inaugurated the Science Fair. The Campus Director and Chairman of PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro was the chief guest. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha expressed his best wishes. The Correspondent Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto delivered the presidential address.

Ms. Gunashri and team presented the prayer song. The Convener Mr. Chandrashekar K welcomed the gathering. The Dean of Science Prof Udaya K proposed the vote of thanks. The Assistant Professor of Chemistry Mr. Edwin S D’Souza compered the programme.

In the Special Guest Lectures, Dr Ganesh Sanjeev, Professor, Department of Studies & Research in Physics, Mangalore University and Dr J Dinakara Adiga, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur participated as resource persons.

In order to develop scientific temper among the students, Essay Writing Competition, Model Competition and Science Quiz Competitions are conducted. The UG students from nine colleges of Dakshina Kannada District have participated in the Fair. In Essay Writing Competition, Ms Nidhi of Alvas College Moodbidri bagged first prize, M. Riya of Vijaya College Mulki bagged second prize and Ms Mangala Shenoy of St Philomena College bagged third prize. In Model Competition, Mr Anush N G & Mr Bibin Thomas of St Philomena College secured first prize, Mr Sharath & Mr Sukesh of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College Ujire secured second prize and Mr Udith Kumar M and Mr Veekshith P of St Philomena College secured third prize. In Science Quiz Competition, Ms. Shravya G Kumar & Mr Vishwajith P of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College Ujire bagged first prize, Ms. Rini Johnson & Vrinda T V of St Agnes College bagged second prize and Mr Vikas M & Namratha Padiyar of St Philomena College bagged third prize.

In valedictory and prize distribution ceremony, The Campus Director and Chairman of PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro was the chief guest. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presided over the ceremony.

Ms Inchara and team performed the prayer. The Associate Professor of Chemistry Prof. Malini K welcomed the gathering. The Assistant Professor of Chemistry Ms. Chaithra K S presented the details of prize winners. The Convener Mr Chandrashekar K proposed the vote of thanks. The Assistant Professor of Physics Ms Revathi compered the programme.
