Udupi : The district administration along with Dr. G. Shanker Family Trust jointly organized a district level Teachers’ Day at the Shamili Auditorium here on 5th September, 2017,

The programme began with an invocation and welcome dance by Mukundakripa School Udupi. Shekar Assistant Director (Administration), Public Education Department, Udupi district welcomed the gathering.

The district in-charge Minister as well as Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. Later, he offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

In his message, Pramod Madhwaraj said that teachers are the architects of a good society through their selfless services which shape the personality as well as future of their students. The role of teachers in the society is giving tremendous services and enhance the knowledge to their students in developing good citizens.

The contribution of district teachers has been far excellence and hence the district have been in the forefront in education compared to other districts of the state, he said.

The 7th Pay Commission for teachers would be announced at the earliest. The teachers have been waiting for this update for a very long time. The revised allowances will reflect in the salaries of the teachers also, he said.

During the occasion, twenty teachers were honored with the Best Teacher District Award for the year 2017. Meanwhile, 17 teachers were honored with Sadhaka Sikshaka Award 2017.
