District gears up for ZP and TP elections, all arrangements in place: Election Officer S. Yogeshwar

Udupi: All the required arrangements have been made to conduct a smooth and fair elections of Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat in the district, said S. Yogeshwar Deputy Director of Food and Civil supplies Department and also Election Officer for the elections.

He was addressing a press meet at the Election Office at Udupi Taluk Office on Friday, 30th January, 2016 that the elections would be held for 26 Zilla Panchayat constituencies and 98 Taluk Panchayat constituencies on second phase of 20th February, 2016 between 7 am and 5 pm.

He said that there are total 3, 29,614 voters, which 1, 57,278 males and 1,75,331 are female voters and 5 either genders voters. There would be 374 polling booths in Udupi Taluk. There would be 11 Zilla Panchayat constituencies in Udupi taluk.

He said that Negesh Shanbaug Block Educational officer Brahmavar would be deputy election officer and Taluk office, court hall will be election officer’s office will be set up. T. G. Guruprasad Thasildar of Udupi, Thippeswami Special Thasildar of Brahmavar Dr. Bhasker Shetty Asst Lecturer at T.A. Shankar Women’s First Grade College, Ajjarkad Udupi will be the election officers’ of Udupi Taluk.

S. Yogeshwar also said that the filing of nominations for the upcoming Panchayat elections will be held between 1st February and 8th February, 2016 between 11am to 3pm. 8th February will be the last day of filing nominations and 11th February is the last date to withdraw the nominations.

Excise and Police officials’ meeting was held for the peaceful and fair elections. All the arrangements are made available for the filling of applications etc. in taluk office.

During the press meet Nagesh Shanbhaug, Tippeswami, Dr. Bhaskar Shetty and others were present.
