FMMC conducts Venkat Rao Memorial PG Quiz

Mangaluru: The department of General Surgery, Father Muller Medical College (FMMC), conducted ‘Venkat Rao Memorial PG Quiz 2018’ for postgraduate students in Knowledge Centre, A V Hall. Students from six medical colleges in and around the city, consisting 33 teams, participated in the quiz.

The event was half day programme and began with welcome address by Dr Leo Tauro, professor and head of the department of General Surgery. Dr Pratvhi Shetty was the quiz master. The quiz consisted of a preliminary selection round followed by a final quiz of five rounds with the top five teams. The final quiz consisted of five rounds which included major and minor case, viva-voce rounds, gammath (fun) rounds, clinical ward, and surgery (Operative videos) buzzer rounds.

The first prize won by Dr Varun Khullar and Dr Thombare Piyush Ramesh, KVG Medical College, Sullia. The second prize won by Dr Raksha R and Dr Surabhi K, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte. The third prize was bagged by Dr Sonali and Dr Basila, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte. The prize distribution was done by the HOD and senior faculty members of the department. All the staff members and postgraduates from the department of surgery attended the programme. As many as 80 members participated in the programme which was well appreciated by the participants.
