Kundapur: Members of Bajrang Dal, Tekkatte unit rescued four cows which had been found tethered in the midst of a thicket near the government higher primary school at Nooji near here, on the night of Tuesday November 28. It is said that these cows were meant to be transported to a slaughterhouse.

Activists of Bajrang Dal had learnt that transportation of cows from villages like Beloor, Kedoor and Shanadi near Tekkatte to slaughterhouses was going on through a local broker since the last some days. Acting on information, they went to a spot and found that cows had been pooled together in a thicket for being sold to slaughterhouses. The activists rescued the cows at night and handed them over to Kota police station.

It is gathered that one of the cows found tethered in a desolate area had died on the spot as the rope tied around its neck turned into a noose and suffocated it when it tried to wriggle out of the rope. Kota police have registered a case and begun investigation.
