Flood Light Pro-Kabaddi Tournament at Muniyal

THREE CRORE GRANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF KABADDI: ABHAYACHANDRA JAIN

Mangaluru, March 21: ‘State government allotted 3 crore rupees in the budget for the development of kabaddi. With an intention to popularize kabaddi two rubber mat courts will be constructed in each district”-said Abhayachandra Jain, the sports and youth minister for the state.

Mr Jain said these words during his inaugural address at All India level Flood-light Pro-Kabaddi tournament on Saturday organized by Ardhanareeshwara Sports Club, at Gandhi Stadium, Muniyal.

“Kabaddi gives inspiration to our life”-said Vinay Kumar Sorake-the urban development minister for state and wished good luck.

The Kabaddi star Kadthala Sukesh Hegde, award winning senior athlete Jaya Shetty, the key person of the All India level Flood-light Pro-Kabaddi tournament Thellar Girish Shetty, Mahesh Shetty and Amba Ramesh Shetty were honored.

The Trustee of Mutlupady Ardhanareeshwara temple-Pradeep Ajila was the president of the programme. By Replying the honor of the native place-Girish Shetty and Mahesh Shetty brothers said-“we never forget our native place. This tournament was organized with an intention to give inspiration to the youth”.

Shabir Bapu, Jagadish Kumble, Rahul Chaudhary, Ajay Takur, Pradeep Narwal, Deepak Niwas Hooda, Jeevakumar, Prashanth Rai, Raj Guru, Sunil Hanumanthappa, Suresh Kumar, Jawahar Vivek and other sports-stars were present as the special invitees and added a special charm to the sports event.

Thellar Girish Shetty, Mahesh Shetty, Muniyal Uday Shetty, Miyyar Uday S Shetty, Sunil Kumar-MLA of Karkala, Halady Shrinivasa Shetty, member of Vidhana Parishath K Prathapchandra Shetty, Capt. Ganesh Karnic, Karnire Vishvanatha Shetty-the president of Mumbai Bunts Association, Aikala Harish Shetty-Vice president of Vishwa Bunts Federation, M N Rajendra Kumar-the president of DCC Bank, former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde, Bhaskar S Kotian, Rohith Kumar Kateel, Dinesh Pai Muniyal, Shantharam Suda Perdur, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Dr Santhosh Kumar Shetty, Hebri Prasad Ballal, Madamakky Shashidhar Shetty, Muniyal Gopinath Bhat, Dr Sudarshan Hebbar, member of Zilla Panchayath-Jyothi Harish Poojary, member of Taluk Panchayath-sulatha Ramakrishna, Panchayath president-Surendra shetty, film actress Raksha Shenoy, the Assistant director department of sports-Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty, K P Jagadhish Adhikari, Hariprasad Rai, Muniyal Umesh Shetty, the state vice-president of Kabaddi Association-V Jayaram, B C Ramesh, president of udupi district Rajendra Suvarna, Sunil Hegde from Ardhanareeshwara sports club, Mutlupady, Sudeep Ajila, Raghunath Poojary and guests from other states, VIP’s were present and added a special charm to the sports event organized for the first time in a rural area.

The sports event started Saturday evening and continued till Sunday afternoon. The gallery was crowded with sports fans from local and outside area. Women participated in large numbers.
