Girls’ Squash team are ’runners-up’ at National inter-university meet

Manipal: The Manipal University Squash teams have brought laurels to the University and the region after performing well at the All-India Inter University Squash Racquet Championship that was held at Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, early November, 2015.

The girls’ team finished runners-up and the boys fourth. The girls lost to Punjab University, Chandigarh 2-3 in the final and the boys lost to University of Calcutta 1-3 in the match for third and fourth places.

The girls’ team comprised of Sushmita Panigrahi (captain) and Aishwarya Agarwal - Manipal Institute of Technology, Ishita Saxena – Faculty of Architecture, Alekhya Lavu, Shilpa Sundar and Sravani Polepalli - Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The boys’ team: VA Ravishankar (captain), Ayush Barmecha, Varun Bhandari, Aaroh Soni and Soumik Banerjee - Manipal Institute of Technology, Yaduveer Singh - Welcomgroup School of Hotel Administration. Their performance is a matter of appreciation.
