Groom-to-be killed in accident

Kundapur: In what can be termed as sad incident, a youth who was days away from getting married was killed in a hit-and-run accident on NH-66 near Shalebagilu, Uppunda here Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh (31), a resident of Nagamane, KB Road, Bhatkal. Another person, identified as Durgi, who was riding pillion with Ganesh, sustained minor injuries.

Ganesh and Durgi were riding towards Ganesh's native Padukone when a car rammed into their bike near Shalebagilu. Ganesh got thrown on to the road and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur, from where he was taken to Udupi for further treatment, but he passed away on the way. The car that smashed into Ganesh's bike sped away and is yet to be traced.

Ganesh's marriage was scheduled to be held shortly. He was on the way to his mother's house at Padukone, where he was supposed to visit neighbours and relatives to distribute his wedding invitations.
