Guest Lecture held at St Philomena college Puttur

Puttur: ‘Every event which crops up around us need to be viewed and examined from poles apart perspectives. Opportunities to be created both to share the views and listen to them in a democratic setup like ours, only then the true democracy could be deep rooted and strengthened’ said Dr. Chandra Poojary, Professor of Development Studies, Kannada University, Hampi.

 

He was delivering a guest lecture on the topic ‘Research in Social Sciences and Development’ at St Philomena College, Puttur. As an alumnus of the college he was addressing the students of Social work and Economics of Post Graduate Centre of the college. ‘The socio-economic policies and programmes of the government as opposed to helping people of lower strata, it turned them to be more deprived of their dues by increasing the disparity between haves and have-nots’ he added.

Dr. A P Radhakrishna, IQAC coordinator introduced the guest. Prof. Dinakara Rao, coordinator of the department of Economics was present on the occasion. Prof. Prasanna Kumar co-ordinator of MSW Department welcomed the gathering. Prof. Srimani compered the programme.
