HC orders reprinting of invitations without DC’s name

Puttur: In a set back to the district administration in the Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple invitation row, the High Court has reportedly ordered reprinting of the invitation cards of the Temple’s Car Festival without the name of the DC, by upholding a petition filed questioning the mention of the name of the DC in the invitation card.

A devotee had earlier moved the court arguing that the inclusion of the name of the DC in the invitation card was against the law, while the State Government had argued that the name of the DC in the invitation was as per the Protocol.

The petitioner had even contended that as per the Mujrai Rule, in the event of a DC being a non-Hindu, a sub-ordinate official who is a Hindu can discharge the duties which a DC had to otherwise perform in temples.
