‘Home Coming Day’ refreshes memories of Roshni Alumni

Mangaluru: The Roshni Alumni Association, School of Social Work organized ‘Home Coming Day 2016’, at the College Auditorium Roshni Nilaya here on August 13.

Home Coming at Roshni is a tradition annual programme where each of the Roshnite feels connected with other alumnus including present day students. The programme includes meeting all teaching and non-teaching faculty along with the Principal.

The program began with an invocation. The president of Roshni Alumni Association, Steevan Pinto welcomed the gathering. Secretary of the association Usharani AL read out the annual report. Treasurer of the association Eveleen Bennis read out the accounts statement for the year 2015-16. Roshni Alumni Association Newsletter for the years 2016 was released on the occasion.

Ashoka T, director – HR, Scnieder Electric, Bengaluru was the chief guest. He is also the president of NIPM, Karnataka Chapter at present and an alumnus of the college. Anand James D’silva, Country HR Manager, HP India, Bangaluru also president of Roshni Alumni Association, Bengaluru chapter at present was guest of honour.

Chief guest Ashoka T addressing on the occasion said, “After 26 years, I am coming here to the campus. There is an emotional connection with the institution. After 26 years, I have got an opportunity to be here as chief-guest. I am very happy to be a part of the Home Coming”.

He thanked the president Steevan Pinto for inviting him for the programme.

The Roshni Alumni Association honoured the best outgoing students of all the streams of the college and also awarded the two outgoing Alumni’s on the occasion. Roshni Alumni Association also launched the www.indiahrdirectory.com website on the occasion.

Founder principal Dr Olinda Pereira and ex-principal, Philomena Serrao, celebrated their birthdays on the occasion.

National award winner, artiste Shabari mesmerized the crowd with her spot art. There was a cultural programme performed by the old and the present student. All the members enjoyed and cherished the home coming 2016 with refreshing their memories. Bonanza for all Roshnities was greeting all past five principals of the college.

More than 200 plus alumni witnessed the Home coming day 2016. Dr Sophia N Fernandes, principal of the college presided over the function. Asha Lobo compered the programme and Usharani proposed the vote of thanks.
