Bantwal: Bantwal Police raided a place near the Netravathi bridge at B C Road and have seized illegally stocked sand worth Rs 33 lakhs. A private company had reportedly purchased the sand and stocked it in the place.
The seized sand has been handed over to the Department of Mines and Geology. L&T company which is the contracting agency for the four-laning works between Sakleshpur and BC Road had availed a place at Panemangalore on rent and had stocked nearly 2000 lorry loads of sand. Of this nearly 900 lorry loads of sand had already been utilised.
Probationary IPS officer Akshay M, SI Chandrashekhar, Rural SI Prasanna, Crime SI Harish and others were part of the operation carried out under the guidance of SP Ravikanthe Gowda.
