Mangaluru: Low-cost carrier IndiGo Airlines launched its direct flight services from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and Mumbai on May 1. A ceremony was held at Mangaluru International Airport to mark this occasion. DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai , MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other dignitaries launched the inaugural flights. A cake was also cut on the occasion by MIA Director J T Radhakrishna and other officials.
As of now IndiGo will have two flights per day to Bengaluru and another to Mumbai. The flight to Bengaluru will leave at 7 am and another at 16.20 hours, while the Mumbai flight will leave Mangaluru at 12 noon. From May 15 onwards IndiGo will launch another additional flight to Bengaluru which will depart from here at 10 pm. The inaugural IndiGo flight which landed in Mangaluru was greeted with the traditional water cannon salute.
