Mangaluru: MLA J R Lobo condemned the incident where it is alleged that police showed disrespect to the Quran and tore Madrasa books while conducting a search in a house in connection with the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala.

“If the allegations against the police are true, they are highly condemnable. Police should be careful while handling such cases. They should not hurt the sentiments of any religion. A detailed investigation should be conducted into this incident and truth should come out at the earliest," Lobo said.

Police raided the house of Kalandar, a suspect in the murder of Sharath Madivala on September 2. It is believed he accepted Rs. 1 crore in connection with the murder. He is still absconding. From 10:30 in the morning till 2:30pm, police searched the house. The members of house alleged that police threw religious book and also tore pages . However the police allege that this is false and the photos showing the Quran on the floor have been planted by people on intent on creating tensions.
