Bantwal: Mining baron and former minister Janardhan Reddy, visited Sri Rama Vidya Kendra being run by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, at Kalladka on Tuesday.

"Even if the government stands firm on not sanctioning grants to the school, we will make sure that the school will thrive and flourish. We are fully supporting the 'Bhikshandehi' movement, and me and my friends have decided to hand over Rs 26 lac to this school. The state government has resorted to a devilish act by snatching away food from school children, and it will face punishment within a matter of six months," Reddy said on the occasion.

Mahesh Vikram Hegde, the brain behind the above movement, said that on the ninth day of the movement, a sum of Rs 38 lac was received in total including Rs 26 lac given by Reddy. He added that the educational institution has so far received 5,000 kg rice and that he and others behind the movement are confident of reaching the target of Rs 80 lac soon.
