KMC holds ‘Gynaecologic Oncology Update’ at Manipal on Feb 21

Udupi: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Kasturba Medical College and Kasturba Hospital Manipal and the Manipal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society jointly organized a CME ‘Gynaecologic Oncology Update’ at Manipal on February 21.

The CME was well attended by over 150 delegates, mostly medical practitioners, from the region took part in the technical sessions.

Dr Poornima Baliga, dean, KMC Manipal was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Eminent gynaecologic oncology specialists - Dr Annekathryn Goodman from Massachusetts General Hospital Boston and Dr UD Bafna from Kidwai Memorial institute of Oncology Bangalore were the guests of honour. Dr Ananda Bangera observer, Karnataka Medical Council was also present.

The CME program was organized under the guidance of Dr Lavanya Rai, professor and Head Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Dr Shubhageetha was the organising Chairperson of the CME and Dr. Shyamala G was the Organising. The day long program covered different aspects of cancer in women ranging from prevention to palliation covering uterine, ovarian and breast cancer and also community oncology. Several oncology specialists contributed as resource persons.
