Kallianpur B Ward of Milagres Cathedral,Kallianpur celebrated Ward Annul Feast

Udupi : Kallianpur B ward of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur celebrated Annual Ward Feast with pomp on Sunday, 31st January, 2016.

The thanksgiving mass for the patron of the ward St. Anthony was held at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur at 8 am mass which was concelebrated by Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado, Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers along with Rev Fr. Wilfred Lewis and Rev Fr. Aloysius Lewis local priests of Milagres.

In his homily, Fr. Nelson Furtado pointed out the abounding love and mercy to us. During the offering on Eucharistic celebrations, Kallianpur B ward large devotees participated. At the end of the mass, during the announcement, Vicar of Cathedral, Rector Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo conveyed the best wishes to the festive Ward people.

In the evening, the get together programme to celebrate ward fest was held at Rosy John, where Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst. Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Dennis Lobo Superior of Pilar Fathers, Deacon Dennis Miranda, Xavier Fernandes Convener of SCC, Milagres Cathedral, Rose convent and Ozanum nuns were present.

The evening programme started with an invocation prayer song by coir members of Kallianpur B ward and welcome dance by children of the ward. Alisha Benny welcomed the gathering. The newly elected Gurkar of the ward Raymond Crasta conducted the evening prayers. Godfrey Sequeira placed the ward annual report. Maina Lewis placed the report of Self Help co operative report. Alfred D’Souza placed the statement of the accounts of the ward for the year.

During the celebrations, Devine Lewis and Velonia Mascarenhas who achieved in sports at State level were felicitated by the Fr. Stany B. Lobo. These two girls of the ward, achievements in sports was read out by Irene D’Souza.

Alfred D’Souza who served ten years as a successful Gurkar of the ward was felicitated by Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo with Shawl, garland, fresh fruits and appreciation memento which read out by Eugene Rebello. The former outgoing Gurkar Alfred D’Souza gave gratitude to all concerned for his successful leader of the ward as Gurkar.

In his festive message, Fr. Stany Lobo called the ward people to serve better for our society and the church. We have plenty of mercy from God and we thankful to Lord for his vast mercy to us. He also gave thanks to outgoing Gurkar for his marvelous service to the ward.

There were plenty of entertainment programmes held under the leadership of Noreen Lewis which included various games for children, men and women. Solo singing, dances from ward children, comic by Gracy Martis of Ozanum, group singing and many more held during the celebrations. Noreen conducted housie game with fun. Prizes were distributed to all the winners during the occasion by the guests. Spot games also conducted during the programme.

Raymond Crasto, Gurkar of the ward delivered vote of thanks. Dr. Nisha Rebello compered the programme with excellence.

The Cathedral other gurkars from Thonse, Edbettu, Milagres A, B and C wards, Puttur and Kakkunje wards were participated and shown their unity with ward annual festival. The Home made tasty food by the ward women served to all participants and annual fest celebrated with great enthusiasm.
