Karnataka Information Commission imposes a fine on retired tahsildar

Mangaluru: The Karnataka Information Commission in Bengaluru has imposed a fine on retired tahsildar Mohan Rao. He is currently a resident of Bantwal. He was fined for failing to provide information to an applicant under the Right to Information Act 2005.

On August 29, 2013, Ramanna Shetty of Bondantila village had applied for information concerning amendment to his RTC record, which Rao had not complied with.

Shetty complained to the Commission in this matter. The commission has instructed the sub-treasury office in Bantwal to collect the fine amount of Rs 10,000 from Rao either in a lump-sum or by way of deduction from his pension amount.
