Khader threatens to take action against agencies who have dailed in supplying tur dal

Mangaluru: State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader has said that there was a shortage of toor dal in fair price shops due to the lapse of nearly ten agencies which have taken up the contract to supply the toor dal.

Speaking to reporters Monday the Minister also stated that notices have also been issued to the toor dal suppliers who are found to have erred. Stating that Dakshina Kannada district needs 2,177 quintals of toor dal but the agency concerned had only supplied 155 quintals resulting in the shortage. The government was now thinking to purchase lentils directly from the growers, he added.

Khader further informed that the government would appoint an investigation officer to probe the case of Ahmed Qureshi.
