He was kidnapped by some people who came by a Scorpio vehicles. The kidnappers had later demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore after making a call from a foreign number to Arif’s family and had even threatened to finish him off if their demand was not met.

The family had then lodged a complaint with the police who gathered information that Farooq gang from Kerala and Latif of Uppinangady were behind the kidnapping. However, before the police could nab them, they have released Arif.
