Konkani film Sophiya released

Mangaluru: Konkani movie ‘Sophiya’ got a grand release in the city at Prabath Theatre on May 12. MLA J R Lobo, Mangaluru south constituency appreciated the eforts of producer Janet Noronha and congratulated the first female movie producer from this region.

"Actress Ester Noronha has already made her name in the cinema industry in several languages. Talents surface from this type of effort, the release of a few movies in Konkani recently has encouraged all and the industry is growing. This will help Konkani language and culture too in many ways," Lobo said.

Chancellor of Mangaluru diocese Rev. Henry Sequeira, Mandd Sobhann gurkar Eric Ozario, Mandd Sobhann president Louis J Pinto, Karnataka Sahitya Academy recent president Roy Castelino, director Harry Fernandes, producer Janet Noronha and lead actors Elton Mascarenhas and Ester Noronha and others were present on the occasion. Bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza along with dignitaries present lit the lamp to mark the inauguration of the film. The film was screened thereafter to a selected audience.
