Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, NSS observe World Breastfeeding Day

Mangaluru: The obstetrical and gynaecological nursing department of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) observed World Breastfeeding Day on August 2 at LMET Auditorium, A J Towers, Balmatta, here.

The theme of the World Breast Feeding Week 2016 was 'Breast Feeding : A Key to Sustainable Development'

Professor Sabitha Nayak, vice principal and HOD obstetrical and gynaecological nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences Derlakatte, here was the chief guest for the function. She stressed on the goals to be achieved in the sustainable development in growth of the child.

Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing presided over the function and enlightened on student nurses' role in assisting breast feeding mothers.

Sandhya D'Almieda HOD, obstetrical and gynaecological nursing, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, welcomed the gathering.

A health talk and demonstration on the techniques of breastfeeding was given by professor Sabitha Nayak. Swathi, I Year Msc nursing student delivered the vote of thanks. Amitha, I Year Msc nursing student compered the programme.
